Instructions
  1. Chop the Shrimp and Imitation Crab: Finely chop 150g of peeled and deveined shrimp. Shred or finely chop 200g of imitation crab (surimi) to ensure it mixes well with the shrimp. Mix the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp and imitation crab with: 3 tablespoons mayonnaise. 1 teaspoon minced garlic. 2 finely chopped green onions. 1 teaspoon lime juice. Salt and pepper to taste. Optional: Add 1 teaspoon sriracha for a spicy kick. Combine Thoroughly: Mix until the ingredients are evenly combined and the texture is creamy. Set aside.
  2. Slice the Baguette: Cut 2 medium-sized baguettes into 12 slices, each about 1-1.5 inches thick. Toast the Bread: Lightly toast the slices in an oven or on a pan to make them slightly crispy on the surface. Spread Butter: Apply a thin layer of softened butter on each slice to add richness and prevent sogginess when adding the topping.
  3. Spread the Mixture: Generously spread the shrimp and imitation crab mixture on each slice of bread, ensuring an even layer. Optional Garnish Before Baking: Sprinkle a pinch of chili flakes or shredded cheese (optional) on top for added flavor and presentation.
  4. Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake: Place the assembled toasts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the topping turns golden brown and slightly bubbly.
  5. Add Fresh Garnish: Sprinkle chopped cilantro and a dash of chili flakes on top for a vibrant finish. Serve Warm: Arrange the toasts on a serving platter and enjoy them while warm for the best flavor and texture.
